“Co-creating The People’s Bus” is an exhibition showcasing Yazmany Arboleda’s Public Artist in Residence project created in collaboration with the NYC Civic Engagement Commission and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
Created by Arboleda, “The People’s Bus” is a retired city vehicle that has been transformed with input from New Yorkers into a community center on wheels to engage people in NYC’s civic life through beauty and joy. The exhibition at MFTA features works that trace Arboleda’s original designs of the bus and his collaborations with partner organizations, which have helped transform the ways the bus engages communities.
This show was curated by Francisco Brown (MICROPOLITAN Studio) and Leah K. White. Collaborating organizations include Materials for the Arts, Mujeres en Movimiento, Territorial Empathy, The People’s Fellows, and NYC residents from Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, The Bronx, and Manhattan.
Proof of Vaccination: In accordance with Key to NYC guidelines, individuals age 5 and older must show proof of vaccination to visit the gallery.
This show has been extended through Thursday, February 17.
