Artist Talk with Armita Raafat

Join us online for a conversation with MFTA Director of Education John Cloud Kaiser and Armita Raafat, a contemporary New York-based artist who grew up in Tehran, Iran. Inspired by traditional Iranian architecture, Raafat blends her exploration of repeating geometric patterns with contemporary materials, bringing them into new cultural and historical contexts. Learn more about Raafat’s artistic practice as she transforms found tiles, mirrors, glass, styrofoam, mesh, and fabric into works of art.

 

Armita Raafat has exhibited nationally and internationally at the MCA – Chicago, The Bronx Museum of the Arts – New York, The Noyes Museum of Art – New Jersey, Pavel Zoubok Gallery – New York, Dorsky Gallery- New York, Art in Buildings – New York, HORSEANDPONY Fine Arts – Berlin, and Al-Zahra University in Tehran.
