Sketch Night: Pride Edition!

Head on over to our warehouse for a special PRIDE Month edition of Sketch Night at MFTA on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 6:00pm — 9:00pm. Curated by Spring 2023 MFTA Artist-in-Residence Machine Dazzle with instruction from sketch artist A.E. Kieren, this sketch night will feature nude posing from Jack Rabbit Slims and Josef Perou.

The sketch portion of this evening will be preceded by an introduction from drag artist Kareem Khubchandani who will explore the ways that diasporic South Asian artists use various forms of South Asian dress, alongside music and dance, to tell their stories of desire, migration, and pleasure.

Kareem Khubchandani is the author of Decolonize Drag and Ishtyle: Accenting Gay Indian Nightlife, and co-editor of Queer Nightlife and Critical Aunty Studies. He also performs as everyone’s favorite desi drag aunty, LaWhore Vagistan. LaWhore is the host of curator of DRAGISTAN: a Showcase of South Asian drag, and you can find her on music videos and TedX Talk on YouTube.
